MORE INFO

  • Can I send my kids without me for a retreat or day trip?
Retreats: We only provide overnight retreats to children attending with their legal guardian. This means we cannot host a child for an overnight trip unaccompanied. Day Trips: We can host day trips for either children attending with their legal guardian, or children attending with an organization operating under their childcare license with the proper number of chaperones. The guardians accompanying a group for one of our events are responsible for monitoring their children at all times.
  • What ages of children can we bring?
We welcome children of all ages for our retreats, with the following notes: - If you are bringing a baby, you must bring the baby's sleeping arrangements with you. - Children 5 and under may be restricted from participating in certain adventure activities depending upon height and weight. - The child's guardian is responsible for monitoring their child at all times.
  • Do I qualify for a retreat or day trip?
We most commonly work directly with organizations aligned with our mission to coordinate group retreats and day trips. To qualify, these organizations must serve foster families or youth, houseless families or youth, or a parallel underserved population. We can also coordinate directly with families to organize a family retreat for 3 or more families. If you are unsure if you qualify, please reach out to yourfriends@rmascent.org!
  • How can I give back during one of my retreats?
We are a very small team operating on a very small budget... this keeps our programs free! Because of this, we appreciate all the help that we can get doing dishes and cleaning the cabins upon departure. Thank you for helping us keep our programs free!
  • Can I bring some beers for my trip?
We are a drug and alcohol-free environment. Guests, staff, and volunteers are not allowed to possess or consume drugs are alcohol within our property limits. Read more about our nicotine policy in another FAQ.
  • What is your nicotine policy?
We allow the use of nicotine products in designated smoking areas on our property for those 21 years old and over. Smoking within cabins or common areas is strictly prohibted.
  • Do you provide transportation?
We provide optional transportation from Colorado Springs for our weekend retreats. Our van can transport up to 10 individuals, and pickup location is determined by your group.
  • Where are you located?
We are located near Victor, CO on 118 acres! It is about a 1 to 1.5 hr drive from Colorado Springs. We will provide you with our address and driving directions once you have registered for one of our events.
  • Will my car make it to your property?
Our property is located 1.7 miles into a dirt road. The road is often bumpy, but does not usually require 4WD or high clearance from June - September. The end of our road can be steep, so large buses and RVs might not be able to make it.
  • What elevation are you at?
We rest at around 10,000 feet in elevation. This means the sun burns you much quicker, you need to drink more water than usual, and you will likely be short of breath.
  • Are there animals in your area?
Lots! We have elk, deer, moose, black bears, mountain lions, and lots of little critters. It is VERY important that we do not approach or disturb the wildlife. They respect us if we respect them. We do NOT have any snakes, as it is too high in elevation. We can also have lots of mosquitos in July and August.
  • Where is the nearest hospital?
The nearest medical facility is Pikes Peak Regional Hospital in Woodland Park, a level IV trauma facility capable of handling basic emergency care (approximately 24 miles away, a 35 minute drive). The nearest Level II trauma facilities are Penrose Main and Memorial Central in Colorado Springs. Both facilities are approximately 45 miles from the camp, which is a one hour and five minute drive. Ambulance services are provided by Southwest Teller County Emergency Medical Services.
  • What towns are nearby?
Victor: 18 mins, 7.2 mi (gas station) Cripple Creek: 25 mins, 11 mi (small grocery, hardware, restaurants, gas station) Divide: 34 mins, 20 mi (small grocery, hardware, restaurants, gas stations) Woodland Park: 42 mins, 27 mi (large grocery, hardware, restaurants, gas stations) Colorado Springs: 1 hr 15 mins, 45 mi (nearest city)
